COURSE OBJECTIVES
  • To explain various communication protocols and integration systems on Internet, and methodologies to build application systems on Internet.
  • To explain need for Mobile Browsers and specific design methodologies for developing websites which work coherently on desktop as well as mobile browsers.
  • To provide students with the knowledge and skills to develop Web services-based solutions in the distributed application domain.
  • COURSE OUTCOMES
    After successful completion of this course, student will be able to
    • Understand the basic structure of web engineering principals and processes.
    • Understand basic architecture of XML and Web Services.
    • Design websites suitable for Mobile Browsers.

    INTRODUCTORY CONCEPTS

    World Wide Web and Hypermedia, Hypertext Design, Hypertext Design problems, Web site organizational styles, Web site knowledge structures, Web action types, Web interface metaphors, Information Decomposition and Information Structuring, image handling, Cookie management, Session management

    WEB ENGINEERING

    (18 Hours)

    Web Engineering, Framework, Principles, Merits, Components, Web Engineering Process and Process Flow, Web Engineering Planning, Communication Work, Assess Quality, Refinement, Optimization, Security

    WEB SERVICE

    (10 Hours)

    Functions of XML and Web services for B2B system integration, XML, HTTP and SOAP, Integration of B2B services with Web services, Implementation and consumption of Web services on different OS platforms, Cross-platform system integration, Web service registries, Web service security

    MOBILE WEB APPLICATION

    (06 Hours)

    Mobile Browsers, Architecture and Design for mobile Web application, Application Environment for development and production, Client side scripting for mobile web application, Server side scripting for mobile web application-mobile detection, content delivery, Multimedia and streaming, content adaption, location techniques, detection of location on map, performance optimization
