Vision

Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute of Technology, Surat perceives to be a globally accepted centre of excellence in technical education catalyzing absorption, innovation, diffusion and transfer of high technologies resulting in enhanced quality for all the stakeholders.

Mission

The mission of the Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute of Technology, Surat is to be a leading technical Institute not only at national level but also at International level for imparting training to manpower as per the needs of technology. It is also envisaged to provide the necessary infrastructure to take up research work and to provide the mechanism to interact with industries effectively.

Objectives

  • To offer quality programmes in the engineering at UG, PG and Ph.D. level.
  • To impart instruction and training to students to meet the technological needs.
  • To promote research environment.
  • To promote Industry – Institute interaction.
  • To foster national integration and value based education.
  • To foster national integration and value based education.
  • To interact with Alumni for development of the Institute and for making use of their expertise and resources.
  • To inculcate environment Innovations amongst students.
  • To impart quality education along with development of confidence for being an entrepreneur.

Functions & duties:

  • Academic, Consultancy, Research and Projects under MHRD

(ii) The powers and duties of its officers and employees;

(iii) The procedure followed in the decision making process, including channels of supervision and accountability;

Different Committees of the Institute such as Finance Committee & Building and Works Committee are empowered in decision making in their respective fields. The Board of Governors is the final authority in supervising all the activities and decisions taken at different levels. The Institute is administrated by the Director and assisted by Dy. Director, Registrar and Deans who carried out different functions and responsibilities. Senate is the highest Academic Authority of the Institute and is empowered to take all the decisions regarding academic matters. The recommendations of the Senate are finally considered by the Board of Governors.

(iv) The norms set by it for the discharge of its functions;

The norms set by the MHRD, Govt. Of India and Board of Governors are used for discharge of administrative functions of the Institute. However, all the norms and standards for all academic programmes are finally considered by the Senate.

(v) The rules, regulations, instructions, manuals and records, held by it or under its control or used by its employees for discharging its functions;

(vi) A statement of the categories of documents that are held by it or under its control;

(vii)The particulars of any arrangement that exists for consultation with, or representation by, the members of the public in relation to the formulation of its policy or implementation thereof;
