Technological advancements in Artificial Intelligence (AI) are reshaping the global economy and significantly influencing societal well-being. Recognizing the strategic importance of this domain, the Department of Artificial Intelligence was established at Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute of Technology, Surat in 2023 to foster cutting-edge research and high-quality education in AI and its interdisciplinary applications.
The department is committed to advancing knowledge across core and emerging areas such as Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Generative AI, Natural Language Processing, Computer Vision, Soft Computing, and the intersection of AI with Science. Its academic framework is designed to balance theoretical rigor with practical relevance, enabling students to address real-world challenges.
At present, the department offers B.Tech., Integrated Postgraduate (IPG) (B.Tech + M.Tech), and Ph.D. programs in Artificial Intelligence. Admissions to the B.Tech. and IPG program are conducted through the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA). All programs are designed to build a strong foundation in AI while promoting specialization in advanced domains, preparing graduates for impactful careers in both industry and academia at a global level.
