Welcome to the Department of Electronics Engineering at SVNIT Surat. The Department of Electronics Engineering was established in the year 1982. The department presently offers one undergraduate program in Electronics & Communication Engineering with an intake of 180 students and two postgraduate programs with specializations in Communication Systems, and VLSI and Embedded Systems with a sanctioned intake of 30 in each program. The department also offers a Minor degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering for other branches B. Tech. students to explore interdisciplinary knowledge. The department is running with 27 permeant faculty members who have experience and expertise in the advanced domains of Electronics Engineering. A total of 67 research scholars are doing their Ph. D. under the able guidance of faculties in the various emerging fields of Electronics and Communication Engineering such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, signal processing, microwave engineering, wireless communication, optical communication, sensors, VLSI systems, micro-nano devices, embedded systems, etc.
The department is facilitated by well-equipped laboratories such as basic electronics lab, electronics system design lab, digital electronics lab, embedded system lab, basic communication lab, microwave and optical communication lab, multimedia lab, simulation lab, and project lab. In addition to this, the department has advanced research labs like VLSI design and TCAD lab, communication research lab, sensor research lab, and machine learning & computer vision lab useful to PG and Ph.D. students. The department is growing in all dimensions in terms of the research facility, student strength, infrastructure, advanced teaching/learning methodologies, and industrial collaboration. The department has organized more than 25 Short Term Training Programs and 6 International Conferences in the last five years. The department is progressing with more than 500 publications in reputed National/International journals and conferences. In the last five years, the department has set a good record of 10 design and product patents granted. Also, the department has received externally funded research projects worth more than 2 crores from various agencies like DST, SERB, DBT, BARC, MeitY, ISRO, SMDP, etc... The department has done collaborations with industries like TCS, Neutron, ISRO, etc... for the academic and industrial research work. The faculties and the research scholars are collaborating and working within the department, with other the departments of the institute, and also with researchers around the globe.
The department has enthusiastic UG and PG students. Their aspiring minds have been helpful in taking the department to new heights. Their placement record has been improving year by year, most of our M.Tech. students are associated with renowned industries for their internship in the second year of their study. Not only the research scholars and PG students are involved in the research activities but B.Tech. students also participate in various competitions and achieve appreciable results. The department encourages student activities under different chapters like IETE Student Forum (ISF), IEEE Student Chapter. With the help of these chapters, the students learn different management skills like proposing the event, arranging the relevant activities, communicating with professionals across the nation and abroad, coordinating with the team members, handling finances, etc. These chapters help in the overall development of students of all cadres where they are provided with an excellent opportunity to learn and create what they inculcate. Mentors are provided to them who guide and help them overcome challenges faced throughout the completion of the activities.
We, as a team is working meticulously to achieve the set standards for the overall growth of the department and its stakeholders committed to achieving the Mission and Vision of our department.
