A Research Park has been set up at SVNIT, Surat to coordinate institutional activities related to innovation, incubation, entrepreneurship and industrial interaction. Under the Research Park, SVNIT Surat has set up a not-for-profit section 8 company named “Association for Harnessing Innovation and Entrepreneurship (ASHINE)” with an objective to promote entrepreneurial activity on SVNIT campus and commercialization of R&D efforts across all disciplines of Engineering and Technology including Materials, Manufacturing, Energy and Environment.

ASHINE is aimed at serving the following main objectives:

1. To promote and support entrepreneurship and innovation and allied concept across SVNIT, Surat; other institutes of National Importance as well as other technical institutes
2. To implement and handle operations and management of startup and innovation incubators
3. To develop, frame and implement policies to support start ups
4. To extend state of the art laboratories and other world class incubation and pre incubation facilities to start ups, entrepreneurs and innovators
5. To support IPR awareness and registration activities

Department of Science & Technology, New Delhi has sanctioned the setting up of Technology Business Incubator (TBI) under its NIDHI (National Initiative for Developing & Harnessing Innovations) scheme. In order to cater the requirement for setting up TBI, institute has extended the use of old library building as incubation center. The renovation and refurbishing of the existing building is under process. Once renovated, the building would cater to the needs of around 26 startups on campus along with the facility like laboratories, seminar rooms, meeting rooms, offices, pantry, etc.

Institute has also initiated the process of enrolling startups under ASHINE. Further, the TBI would also work towards spreading awareness about innovation and entrepreneurship amongst students, alumnus and other stake holders.

The Gujarat government has sanctioned setting up of SSIP Cell under its Student Startup & Innovation Policy. This Cell aims at supporting students for pre-incubation process with financial support for innovative projects/ PoC/product development. The SSIP grant provides support for conducting workshops/conferences/hackathons/training programs etc. The grant is also utilized to create basic testing facility, tinkering lab, fabrication lab, basic prototyping facility, etc.
