UAV Avionics Lab

UAV Avionics Lab was developed with exhaustive inputs from the Departments of Aerospace Engineering of IIT Kanpur and IISc Bangalore. The Lab has a baseline infrastructure for fabrication, assembly, and avionics development for Unmanned Aerial Systems. The Lab has received development funds from the Host Institute, MEITY, i-Hub, and ARDB-DRDO over time. The lab is equipped with a varying range of drones, avionics components, facilities for PCB prototyping, 3-D prototyping, mechanical prototyping, and space for boot camp conduction.

A creative 3D printer is a versatile and innovative machine that allows users to bring their digital designs to life in three dimensions. By using materials like plastic, resin, or metal, it builds objects layer by layer based on a 3D model, making it ideal for prototyping, artistic expression, and custom creations. An SLA curing chamber is a specialized device used to further cure and harden 3D-printed objects made with SLA (Stereolithography Apparatus) technology. After an object is printed, it typically needs additional exposure to UV light or heat to fully solidify and reach its final strength and durability. The curing chamber provides a controlled environment with consistent UV light or heat to ensure even and efficient curing of the resin. This process helps to enhance the mechanical properties, surface finish, and stability of the printed object, making it suitable for functional applications.

The Phoenix RC Flight Simulator supports real RC interfaces, allowing users to connect their actual remote control transmitters to the simulator. This feature provides a more realistic flying experience, as pilots can practice with the same controls they use for their real RC aircraft. By using a compatible interface (such as a USB cable or specialized dongle), the simulator replicates the feel and handling of real-world flying, making it an invaluable training tool for both beginners and experienced RC pilots.

NT1068.2 GNSS RF front-end with xilinx PicoZed FPFA on Avnet Carrier card can be used for development of baseband signal processing for GNSS receiver and anti-jamming/anti-spoofing techniques for UAVs.
